July 11, 18, 25, 2018: Yarn Adventures!
Cost: $20 per 3-hour session or $50 for all three
Yarn is the thread that ties these classes together! Each class you will learn a new fiber craft. All materials will be provided and you will be able to take your craft home with you each time.
Session 1: Weaving on a Loom
July 11 from 9:00 – 12:00
Weave a small project on a floor loom that is already set up for you. You can weave mug rugs, a small bag or a mini-wall hanging. You will learn how to weave on a loom and even get to try out some patterns. Lots of colors and yarns will be available so that you can let your creativity loose.
Session 2: Twist and Shout: Winding and Braiding
July 18 from 9:00 – 12:00
Use fringe twisters to make ropes and cords plus learn some unusual ways to braid. Use your braids for decoration, shoe laces or handles. You won’t believe how many ways you can make beautiful cords from string and yarn!
Session 3: Little Looms/Big Fun!
July 25 from 9:00 – 12:00
Hopewell Weaving has a collection of looms to weave on. From tape looms to inkle looms to table looms, you will have fun learning to weave on different types of looms. You will spend the morning trying out different looms, then weave several samples. Go home with a book mark or mug rug that you weave on a loom.
Camp will be held in the cottage at 227 Illini Drive in Hopewell, Illinois. Parents are welcome any time but kids can be dropped off and picked up for camp.
